Media Tours

Participants should meet at the media tours desk near the hotel entrance directly across from Europe 2 on the lobby level at the time listed. End times are the approximate time participants will return to the convention hotel. Transportation to media tours will be provided by JEA and NSPA and is included in the price. An Off-site Permission Form is required for each student attending a media tour.

Receive a private tour of the facility that hosts pro and amateur athletic events and meet members of the marketing strategy team.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts • $20 • FULL

Tour the newly constructed downtown arts center including the 2,700-seat Walt Disney theater.

NASA KSC educational demos and hands-on experience related to space activities and technology. There will be a follow-up Q&A session discussing the role of NASA both on earth, in our daily lives and in preparing us for the future.

Full Sail University • $25

Take a tour of the Winter Park campus that includes a backlot for filming and high-tech classrooms. Full Sail’s degrees focus on real-world entertainment and media education.  There will be a Q&A session with faculty.

Gatorland • $25

Tour the alligator capital of the world. There will be a one-hour private tour, then time to see the live shows and have a Q&A with performers. Plenty of photo opportunities – don’t forget your camera.

University of Florida • $30
10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday. Limit 30.
This group will start with lunch at the student union, then head over to the College of Journalism and Communications for a tour, experience the Interactive News Center and tour the football stadium and the media facilities there. There will be a Q&A session with professors and students.

University of Central Florida • $25
9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday. Limit 25.
Participants will tour the Multimedia Newsroom, the TV studio, and The Nicholson School of Communication building, meet for a Q&A with adviser, Rebecca Morales, who helps students make the transition from high school to college, then meet for a Q&A with several journalism students. The tour will end at the student union where students can purchase lunch.
